The Whitlams Black Stump Duo at The Co-op Gerringong

Tim Freedman and Ollie Thorpe’s acclaimed piano and pedal steel duo offers the perfect vehicle to strip back The Whitlams’ repertoire and deliver classics like “No Aphrodisiac” and “Blow Up the Pokies” with poignant atmospherics.

This intimate show, held at the Gerringong Co-op, will also serve to present new material, as the pair play songs from the debut album of Freedman’s new Americana group – The Whitlams Black Stump. The 13-track long player, “Kookaburra,” is available now.

The Whitlams Black Stump’s recent singles, “The Day John Sattler Broke His Jaw” and “No Aphrodisiac (Black Stump),” which Countrytown called “a three-minute banjo-fied instant classic,” have been staples on Australian Country radio over the past year. The album, two years in the making, was produced by multiple Golden Guitar winner Matt Fell.
