Combining all of our favourite things in one location!

Surfing – Skating – Workshops – Music – Food – Vibes

Surfing NSW’s Her Wave Teams Classic is a unique competition designed for females of all ages and surfing abilities. Each event will be run over two days with over 200 competitors, with short and longboard surfers able to compete.

Sunday will bring about a series of workshops, from hand drumming to breathwork, and strength training, to skate workshops with a pop-up festival skate park at Jones Beach carpark!

Enjoy brekky tunes while you select from some of the epic food trucks on offer, watch the competition unfold or simply spend your Sunday around an epic community with some free entertainment!

From 2pm we encourage everyone to scoot down to the SurfLife Music Festival in Gerringong to see the afternoon out with more live music from spectacular Werri Beach!

This event is a partnership between Surfing NSW and Destination Kiama. It was made possible by competition and festival supporters, The Department of Regional NSW, Kiama Council, Avcon Foundation, Concrete Skate, Jones’ Beach Boardriders, as well as the musicians, workshop hosts and community involved.

Big Love!

A celebration of art and culture and interactive fun. Jones Beach Reserve will come alive with chilled music and interactive activations including skateboarding, drumming and surfboard graffiti workshops, a morning yoga class and food stalls catering to the breakfast/brunch market. A portion of the car park will be closed for the skateboarding and the festival will be held in front of the Surf Club where attendees can be sheltered from the wind.

Through this event, we hope to increase feelings of safety and diversify the offerings to ensure it is welcoming for all people, increase economic productivity, have spaces for creative expression, attract visitors and encourage investment.

The event concept has been developed in conjunction with Surfing NSW which will be running the Her Wave Challenge. The event was held for the first time in 2022 and was named the Sport NSW Community Event of the Year. The first of its kind in the sport of surfing, the Challenge Her Teams Classic is a participation based event driving engagement from surfers of all levels of ability. Paving the way for increased female participation in the sport of surfing and ultimately changing the landscape of the sport in Australia.
