The whole family will love cheering and waving from the steam train as it travels past the station and navigates its way through the quiet bushland setting in Albion Park. The museum also has tram and miniature train rides that let the children experience a piece of history that was enjoyed at fairgrounds by their parents and grandparents alike.
The Museum Society is volunteer operated and was founded in 1972. Showcasing local historical railway buildings including the 1915 signal box from Otford (north of Wollongong), the 1890 Yallah Railway Station building along with the Ken McCarthy Museum building.
The grounds of the museum are a great place to escape, the kids can play in the playground while the adults relax in the barbecue area.
The ‘Steaming days’ are on the second Sunday of the Month, and ‘Diesel days’ on the fourth Saturday of the month. Open from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Prices are as follows:
Adult – $16.50 for entry and unlimited rides.
Child/Concession – $11.00 for entry and unlimited rides
Family Ticket (Unlimited rides) Maximum of five wristbands – $60.50
Children under 3 years ride free with an adult
As of May 19th, the upgraded toilet block is officially open, now catering to the disabled and including a baby changing area. Extensive renovations have been completed for both men’s and women’s facilities, with the addition of the disabled toilet and baby changing area.
