The Kiama Comedy Festival, hosted by Comedy for a Cause, will bring world-class comedians from the Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne International Comedy Festivals, alongside talented local performers. With over 10 solo shows and two Gala events, the festival will take place at premier venues such as Kiama Pavilion, Kiama SLSC, Kiama Leagues Club, and Fillmores.
Held in October, the festival strategically aligns with a quieter tourism season, ensuring a greater selection of comedy talent while drawing visitors to support the local economy. Audiences can expect performances from renowned comedians like Arj Barker, Jimeoin, Rhys Nicholson, Luke Heggie, and Becky Lucas (subject to availability). A standout feature of the festival is a performance by Mark McConville, a comedian and suicidologist, emphasizing the connection between laughter and mental health. In support of Mental Health Month, information services will be available to promote well-being and community support.
The festival is designed to engage all audiences, with kids’ comedy workshops and children’s activities making it a truly inclusive event. It aims to attract comedy enthusiasts, cultural event seekers, tourists, and families from Wollongong, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, and the Southern Highlands.
With strong marketing efforts, including social media campaigns, collaborations with businesses, and community partnerships, the festival will showcase Kiama’s cultural vibrancy while promoting mental health awareness.
