Dave Warner: Crime Writing Workshop

Throughout the month of November, Kiama and Gerringong Libraries are celebrating National Novel Writing Month with a series of workshops designed to inspire and motivate your writing journey.

In this interactive workshop, renowned musician, author and screenwriter Dave Warner will introduce categories of crime-writing, along with its inspiration and approach. Then attendees will simultaneously develop two different styles of crime novel outlines with Dave, in a collective exercise with everyone free to toss ideas into the fire to form the bare bones of several crime novels.

Dave Warner has won the Ned Kelly Award for Best Australian Crime Fiction and the West Australian Premier’s Award for Literature, and has written more than twenty-five published books including fifteen crime novels. Dave’s new novel Double Exxxpresso (Ligature) was published in October 2025.
