Thanks to an incredible show of support from our local businesses, organisations and community, we've officially reached the $100,000 funding target needed to bring the Kiama NYE Sky Show back in 2026.
More than $100,000 has now been secured, including a $20,000 commitment from Kiama Council and the support of our generous sponsors and donors. A huge thank you to everyone who got behind the campaign and helped make it happen.
Following many years of successful NYE Sky Shows, the 2025 event was cancelled due to financial constraints. Strong community support for its return led Council to pursue a partnership-led model for 2026, with local businesses, organisations and donors ultimately helping secure the event's return.
Thanks to the support of local businesses, organisations and donors, the campaign passed its $100,000 funding target, securing the return of the Kiama NYE Sky Show for 2026. Kiama Liquor Accord joined as Community Safety Partner with a $5,000 contribution, taking the total raised to more than $100,000.
Businesses and organisations across the Kiama community came on board with contributions ranging from $1,000 to $19,000, steadily building the campaign towards its $100,000 funding target.
Council called on local businesses and organisations to partner with us and help bring the New Year's Eve fireworks back to Kiama.
Council committed $20,000 towards the event, subject to sufficient external funding being secured through sponsorships or grants.
Community feedback highlighted the event's social value, while a report by Sparrowly Group identified options for delivering a future New Year's Eve celebration.
The fireworks and associated entertainment could not proceed within Council's available budget.

The campaign has now passed its $100,000 funding target thanks to contributions from businesses, organisations and donors within Kiama and beyond the municipality.

The Kiama NYE Sky Show will return to Kiama Harbour on 31 December 2026. Further details, including event timings, entertainment and other important event information, will be announced in the lead-up to New Year's Eve.
A drone show was considered as an alternative, however indicative costs were quoted at between 40 and 70 per cent higher than a fireworks display.
