Good food, cold beers, big adventures and a few last-minute gifts. Here’s how to do Father’s Day in Kiama.
Father’s Day is on Sunday 6 September 2026, and if the plans are still looking a little… unplanned, we’ve got you. From jumping out of planes to long lunches, rounds of golf and very good excuses for a beer, here are a few ways to spend the day with Dad around Kiama.
1. For the outdoorsy dad
How adventurous is Dad feeling? Send him sky-high with BIGWAVE SKYDIVE, take to the treetops with a walk or zipline at Illawarra Fly, or hit the water with Surf Camp Australia at Seven Mile Beach or a family-friendly lesson with Stand Up Paddle Boarding Shellharbour.
More fisho than free-faller? Head offshore with Kiama Fishing Charter Service for reef and deep-sea fishing trips, or join Fishing with a Local and discover a few local fishing spots with someone who knows where they’re biting. Prefer to keep both feet firmly on the ground? Take a wander through Minnamurra Rainforest.
2. For the golf dad
Father’s Day and a round of golf? Hard to argue with that. Tee off at Gerringong Golf Club, then cool off at nearby Walkers Beach, or head to Jamberoo Golf Club, where there’ll be a lucky door prize drawn at lunch and dinner.
At Kiama Golf Club, you can skip straight to the 19th hole with Father’s Day lunch specials at Mystics at the Golfie.
3. For the dad who appreciates a good drop
Have you got yourself a dad who loves beer? Stoic Brewing is firing up the smoker for Father’s Day, with low-and-slow smoked ribs made for pairing with a locally brewed craft beer. Book in for one of their two sittings and settle in for a proper Sunday feast.
Or is dad more of a wine guy? Head up the hill to Crooked River Estate for an à la carte lunch or casual Cellar Door dining, with live music from Matt Dundas, face painting for the kids and Happy Hour from 3pm. Or keep things cosy with good wine, tapas and a table at Cin Cin Wine Bar.
4. For the classic pub lunch dad
Sometimes Dad just wants a cold drink, a good feed and absolutely no washing up. Jamberoo Pub has the first two covered, while The Hill Bar & Kitchen adds ocean views to the equation.
At Gerringong Bowlo, make a day of it with lunch and dinner specials, live music from Chris Cutting, gift hampers up for grabs and a family game of barefoot bowls. Kiama Leagues Club is bringing the Father’s Day BBQ favourites, Bistro specials and $2.50 oysters, while The Grand Hotel Kiama is going Irish, with lunch from 11:30am followed by Irish Sunday from 3pm. Or head to Club Jamberoo for lunch or dinner, with plenty to choose from across the Asian and Western menu at Wok & Grill.
5. For the foodie dad
Come hungry. The Noble Gerringong is serving a Father’s Day tomahawk steak made for serious appetites (pre-orders required), while Frida’s Cantina has BBQ pork ribs, wings, Micheladas and Margaritas on the menu. Go Vietnamese at Hanoi on Manning, tuck into curries and tandoori at JJ’s Indian, grab a pizza from Zia’s Kiama or Olive & Vine, or head to Uncle Fuku’s for $2 dumplings, Happy Hour and live music on the deck.
Seafood Dad? Take your pick from a table with a view at Silica Kiama, fresh seafood at Saltwater Kiama, classic fish and chips from Jaws Seafood or By The Sea Takeaway.
6. For the breakfast dad
Start Father’s Day the right way… with coffee and something good to eat of course. Settle in for brekkie at The Brooding Café, or introduce Dad to the cold foam life at Native Cafe Kiama.
For the pastry-loving dads, make a run to King’s Patisserie & Cafe in Jamberoo for freshly baked sweet and savoury goodies, go French with a croissant or buttery pastry from Parfait Patisserie, or see what’s fresh out of the oven at Slow Dough, where the sourdough is a staple and the sweet and savoury treats change with the seasons. And for an early start, Diggies Kiama is open from 7am with all-day brunch by the beach.
7. For the dad with the sweet tooth
Dessert is basically compulsory on Father’s Day. Let Dad loose in Kiama Sweet Company, where the shelves are packed with chocolates, lollies and old-school favourites from Australia and around the world.
Or take him around the corner to The Original Ice Creamery Kiama and attempt to choose from more than 60 flavours of ice cream, gelato and sorbet. One scoop probably won’t cut it.
8. For the culture-loving dad
Take the Sunday drive to Bundanon Art Museum, where art, architecture and a pretty spectacular landscape make for a Father’s Day outing in their own right. This Sunday there’s an extra reason to go, with iconic Australian designers Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson taking the stage for The Art of Fashion at 12pm. Tickets are $18, leaving plenty of time to explore the Art Museum while you’re there.
Left Father’s Day shopping a little late?
No judgement here. If Father’s Day shopping has somehow crept up on you, there’s still plenty of time to pull off a good one.
