Crooked River Wines was established in 1998 in the rich volcanic alluvial soil of Gerringong, in a valley with amazing views of both the mountain and sea.Crooked River Wines' commercial winery was completed in 2001. The winery boasts 280,000 litres of stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks and 70,000 litres of French and American oak barrels. Throughout the years, Crooked River Wines has won multiple awards for its premium quality red and white wines, and is the largest vineyard on the NSW South Coast.Crooked River Wines employs natural methods – the grapes are both hand-picked and beaten by hand, and the wine bottled on site. The vineyard is on a north facing slope overlooking Rose Valley and Werri Beach. The climate is mild without frosts or the severe heat of summer. Sea breezes provide for a longer ripening period for the grapes to mature. Harvest takes place from February to March.The first vines were planted in 1998. Chardonnay, Verdelho, Chambourcin and Ruby Cabernet are grown in dark red volcanic soils. The grapes are estate grown and the wine produced is bottled locally in Gerringong. Grapes are grown without the use of pesticides.Roselea Wines are award winning premium wines - soft on the palate with full fruit flavour.The reds are light in tannins and aged in new and old American oak barrels. The white wines are fermented cold in stainless steel vats.Prior to viticulture the property produced beef cattle and was previousley part of Miller's dairy farm.
