National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day acknowledges the mistreatment of First Nations peoples who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, resulting in the Stolen Generations. On Tuesday 26 May 2026 from 10:00am–1:00pm, Kiama Council will hold a Sorry Day ceremony featuring a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, guest speakers, and community activities. The event also marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week, a time dedicated to recognising shared histories, cultures, achievements, and pathways toward reconciliation in Australia.
