Framing Space – Sculpture Exhibition by Philip Spelman

Phil Spelman is one of Australia’s leading abstract sculptors.

A key figure in Sculpture by the Sea for 20 years, Phil’s colourful abstract metal sculptures are instantly recognisable. Memorable for their vibrant colours which give luminosity and depth, creating stunning silhouettes within their environment.

His works are abstract constructions where elements balance, tumble and float, creating positive and negative compositions of space, light and shade.

Phil has been a practising sculptor for the past 35 years, and is represented in significant public, private and corporate collections nationally and internationally.

Major works are featured in public spaces across Canberra including the Australian National University and Canberra Museum and Art Gallery, Pt Leo Estate Sculpture Park Mornington Peninsula, Bathurst Regional Gallery and The Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail in southern NSW, as well as major private collections in New Zealand and the USA.
