Soak up the views

This short drive up the escarpment is a great way to get your bearings. There are numerous ‘insta-worthy’ photos along the way with the historic dry stone walls, dairy cows and cabbage trees coming in and out of view. At the top enjoy panoramic views from Cronulla in the north to Milton in the south from different viewing platforms. Sweeping views of blue, green and everything in between will leave you wanting to explore more.

Historic Dry Stone Walls

Nearly 400 dry stone walls have been identified in the Municipality. Most were constructed over 100 years ago and are attributed mainly to Thomas Newing who built walls for over 60 years.

Location: throughout the area, however Saddleback Mountain Road offers some great examples.

Hoddles Track

Park your car at Saddleback Mountain lookout (6 km southwest of Kiama) and follow the green marking posts west, up into the escarpment to Mt Noorinan. Bird watchers  keep an eye out for Crimson Rosellas, Eastern Bristlebirds and the Golden Whistler.

: the track is steep in places and can become slippery. Wear sensible shoes.

Saddleback Mountain Lookout

On a clear day, take in the view from Cronulla in the north to Milton in the South. While the north-facing viewing platform (off main car park) is excellent, be sure to check out the southern platform further up from the main car park.
