The Kiama Library has lots of fun activities and workshops happening this school holidays for kid and teens, and some great things to do at home as well.

  • Journal-making workshop

Making a journal encourages writing, reading and doodling. Come along and learn to make a journal to use for documenting all your ideas, memories, stories and pictures. (You could even bring it along to our storytelling and writing workshop!)

  • Family movie night

Relax and enjoy a movie classic with some friends and family @ Kiama Library. Action, adventure, romance and comedy – this movie has got it all. Bring your snacks and a pillow.

Rated PG, suitable for children 6+. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Macrame bookmark workshop

Make a beautiful, macrame feather and turn it into a bookmark! All materials provided, no experience necessary.

  • Brickman’s amazing mazerunner challenge

A family LEGO challenge with a difference! Using your super skills, and the fabulous library Lego collection, you and your family will have 1 hr to design and make a maze that is more than just a winding path from the beginning to the end! Can you use gravity and motion to get the ball to go where you want it to? Come along and give it a go!

Due to COVID-19 guidelines numbers are strictly limited – please ensure ALL attendees are booked in (adults and children).

  • Buzz wire robotic activity

Build your buzz wire then attempt to guide the metal hook along your course without touching the wire! If you do touch the wire you will complete the circuit, making the LED light up and the buzzer sound. Once you make it, take it home and become a buzz wire master by the end of the holidays.

  • Marvel 3D printing workshop

Make your own Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D badge, set of Avengers coasters, or badge or fridge magnet using Tinkercad, a free web-based design platform, and 3D print it in your choice of colour. No experience necessary.

  • Go Away Foxy Foxy! Storytelling and writing workshop

Karen Hendriks is a children’s author who believes that stories can change the world. She hopes that her stories empower and inspire children to believe that anything is possible if you dare to dream.

In this kid’s writing workshop, Karen will share her picture book Go Away, Foxy Foxy and the children will then learn how to plan and write their own Foxy Foxy story.
