Beginners workshop for Japanese Caligraphy


If you are learning Japanese, or just culture curious, explore the beautiful shapes of one of the world's most sophisticated writing systems. 

Learn to write hiragana, katakana and kanji using both traditional brushes and ink as well as modern brush-pens. This beginners workshop will cover everything from stroke order to balance.

David Lesslie is an artist and signwriter from Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Japanese and Linguistics from the University of Sydney and has also taught calligraphy there. A passionate calligraphy enthusiast, David has over ten years’ experience using traditional brushes and ink.

This event is part of our Makers & Creators program at Kiama Library.
